Musée des Arts Forains
L'histoire de la fête populaire
Musée
des Arts Forains.
01.43.40.16.22. 53, avenue des Terroirs de France.
This pretty museum is strange. It tells the
history of the fun fair, and the small popular plays through these
plays and horse gears which made quiver the century well before the
appearance of our electronic emotions. The place is not opened to
the public, except with the groups made up of at least 15 people and
with the communities of companies. Many attractions dating from
the great time, end XIXth with the turning of the XXth century, have
escaped from the demolition contractors and found here a refuge quite
alive then. The goal is to make them function under the amused eye of
the visitors. Lotteries, horse gears, wooden horses, spinning tops, old
bicycles recall us that the play was itinerant and addressed itself to
all the layers of the population. The open bestiary called upon
artists of talents to carve with veracity the animals of the
carrousels. English caricatures are beside Japanese billiards
which it is possible to touch of the end of the fingers, objects are
freely exhibited.
