The Athena project was made to
renovate the museum of the Army, housed in the Hotel of the
Invalides. Started in 2000, this project finished lately a significant
step with the recent reopening of the new rooms
of armors and old weapons from XIIIth to the XVIIth century installed
along the main courtyard. These rooms are usually the
most appreciated by the visitors. These collections of
armors compete with the most beautiful of Europe, Vienna and
Madrid.
It is the third collection in the world for its variety and its
richness : 2500 m2 of steel clothing tell us the art of the war. Armors
of tournaments, parts of hunting, combat, in
Occident and the East, recall us the untiring desire of conquest of the
men. In icon headlight of this visit, let us rediscover the
frescos murals of Parrocel, completely renovated in the
historical refectory as well as the arsenal, aligning an army of
armors ready for all the attacks.
