Day-Trip : Caillebotte Property (1848-1894)
Caillebotte's House, 8, rue de Concy, 91, Yerres. 01.69.48.93.93.
We can visit the property of
Caillebotte like the house of Monet in Giverny. One discovers there an
immense and very pleasant park for a Sunday walk, a house néo
empire, who suggests, by some memories and reproductions, the existence
of the artist, a small romantic tea-room, an exotic kitchen garden
still sheltering some rare and precious vegetables. The impressionist
painter lived here from 1860 to 1894 and composed there more than 80
works of great quality of which most famous are : Portraits in the
countryside, Edges of Yerres, Rowers rowing on Yerres. This
countryside yerroise, its generous gardens and its silver rivers are
often found in its subjects. It is into 1860 that the father of
the painter buys this vast property where the young Gustave, 12 years
old, discovers his naturalist sensitivity.
