June
23, Paris opens a new superbe Museum fabulously located on left bank of
the Seine, some steps away of the Eiffel Tower. That will be the
largest open Parisian museum since the creation of the Centre George
Pompidou in 1977. Built by the architect Jean Nouvel, the
building will have cost 260 million Euros and will deal completely with
Arts First of Africa, of Oceania, of America and Asia. For this reason,
it will gather the historical collections of the Musée de
l'Homme and the national Museum of Arts of Africa and Oceania
historically located to the Porte Dorée. Approximately 3500
objects will be presented there in the permanent collections on the
300.000 listed in the files of this treasure. One could see some of the
most exceptional parts in the house of the Sessions of Louvre since
2000. The project was born on the initiative of president Jacques
Chirac 11 years ago. The building itself skirts the Seine on 2520
meters and occupies 39.000 square meters.
