Horse Exhibition of Paris

33rd Salon du Cheval de Paris

27 november - 5 december 2004

The horse makes its own Show and from27 November to 5 December will
welcome an unequalled number of members of the horse family: in all,
more than 1,500 horses, ponies and donkeys representing 25 breeds, will
be together for 9 days full of events, competitions, demonstrations and
contests…
More than 500 professional exhibitors from the equestrian world
and from 13 nations, meet every year to present a concentration of
beauty, elegance and skill to riding enthusiasts and general publicalike.
The Paris International Show-Jumping Event: the world elite of equestrian
sports!
Dates to note, 26,27 and 28 November, for a new sporting high spot which every
year marks the opening of the Show.
Organised 3 months after the Olympic Games in Athens, the Paris CSI promises to be
an exceptional event in 2004, with a stunning line-up of competitors (riders/horses)…
And 1,70 m high and 1,50 m wide, just some of the measurements of obstacles to be
jumped at the much awaited Grand Prix!
The Night of the Horse: an equestrian spectacular that sets the pace of the
Show’s evening performances.
Three nights to celebrate the horse, with all the respect due to its rank: on the 3, 4
and 5 December, make way for the horse in all its splendour, with an exceptional
programme: trick riding, Haute Ecole, carousels, teams in harness, circus…
A group of performers called « Beïs Caval » will set the evening alight, presenting for
the very first time on a Paris stage stunts that are utterly breath-taking. Control,
water, fire, leaps, falls… all orchestrated by true professionals. Totally new with an
act staging a mythological character called Taurus.

The World Arabian Horse Championship: welcome into the very closed
circle of the thoroughbreds.
On 3, 4 and 5 December, dressed in their most beautiful attire – with gloss, sequins
and hair cream…- the Arab thoroughbreds will place all their talent at the service of
beauty.
The public never tire of gazing at them. Once again this year, the breed world
championships will attract exceptional models!
The Parade through Paris: the neighing of horses in the streets of Paris!
Sunday 28 November – Departure at 10 a.m. Porte de Versailles. For a few hours,
the horse is the guest of the French Capital.
More than 250 horses and as many riders will be travelling the 14 Km route which
goes past the EifelTower andthe Louvre.
For small riders:
Sessions for baby riders from the age of 12 months, that first pony ride from the age
of 4 years, initiation into trick riding reserved for the older children… just some of the
activities offered to young visitors at the Show.
Among the novelties for 2004:
¾ Circus attractions with a new act especially for children, called Maxi-Mini. This
new type of performance is proposed by the Compagnie Vargas Show, and
presents a Comtois heavy horse and a miniature Shetland pony, in a number
of dressage figures. Both endearing and perfectly controlled.
¾ For those with a sense of adventure, demonstrations of children’s Polo are to
be discovered.
The trends for 2004
After whispering in horses’ ears, the Show and Chevôtissimo give everyone, adults,
adolescents and children, riders and non-riders, the opportunity to meet the horse in
a different way by dancing with him!
The principle: to have one or more people in the audience dancing alongside the
horse, using the techniques of mime. A very strong relationship is formed which
turns into a dance for two!
The late evening of Tuesday 30 November: a real ‘It’s a Knock-out’ contest, but
equestrian of course!
This Inter-Town Cup will see a competition between 5 teams of riders, each of them
representing a town. The town which collects the most points after the four
competitions (jumping, barrel racing, carousel, pony-games) will win this new type of
challenge.
Horse breeding
With 44 breeds of horses, ponies and donkeys recognised by the National Studs,
France is a land of breeding stock. So this year, the Show is placing the emphasis on
the representative nature of its breeds by creating a Horse Breeding Village that
reflects the sector, in the presence of about forty breeders. At the same time, in hall
4, international horse breeding will take its place around a ring, for the delight of all
aficionados of Lusitanians, Spanish Thoroughbreds, Garrano…
