More
than seventeen months of work was
necessary to renovate the Salle Pleyel, one of the most famous the
Parisian concert hall. 30 million euros was spent to give again to the
mythical place its prestige of yesterday. The project was
supposed to find again the original spirit of 1927, in the purest
tradition Art Déco. The event was fabulous in its time. During
the inauguration, Ravel in person directed his Waltz there. In 2006,
the Parisians will rediscover a hall completely identical to that one
of origin, reopen to the natural light since one withdrew the hideous
lid which locked up it. On the ground, the mosaic makes gleam its
black and white stone checker work like its gilded pavement. A hearth
of 600 m2, decorated of three works of Marco del Re, replaces the old
studios of dance. Inside the room, no more false ceiling,
acoustics becomes priority. The old 2370 places became 1920 in order to
gain in acoustic volume. On the other hand, configuration daring and
new in the capital, of the lines of steps to “Berliner” are arranged at
the bottom of the room, instead the place the large disappeared organ,
vis-a-vis the conductor, which makes it possible to encircle spectators
a soloist or a chamber orchestra. 162 places.
