Bois de
Boulogne
Metro : Les Sablons
Paris's largest
(over 2000 acres) and most diverse free space, the Bois runs for miles
at the western edge of the city. In the Bois you'll find two
thoroughbred race tracks (Longchamps and Auteuil), the Jardin
d'Acclimatation, the National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions,
the exquisitely landscaped Parc de Bagatelle, with japanese water
garden and water lilies and rhododendron garden, canoeing on the lakes,
horseback riding, playing fields, picnic grounds, and jogging trails,
the Roland Garros tennis stadium, the Pré Catelan, where
Shakespeare is played in a garden planted with every flower, herb, and
tree mentioned in his plays, and the Parc des Princes, Paris's most
important stadium until the Stade de France was built for the World Cup
in 1998. Don't go there after dark unless you know what you are looking
for.
Bois de
Vincennes
Metro : Chateau de
Vincennes
Paris's most significant green space
on the eastern side of the city, the Bois de Vincennes offers a broad
range of attractions including picnicking, canoe rentals, jogging, an
excellent zoo, a chateau and dungeon, the Parc Floral, the Lac
Daumesnil, playing field, merry-go-rounds, bike paths, and dense woods
(perfect for mushroom hunting). One of our favorite pastimes is simply
walking around the Lac Daumesnil or Lac des Minimes on a Sunday
afternoon and observing Parisians as they stroll with their kids, play
soccer, and frolic with hundred of dogs.
Absolutely not the same place than Studio
Marais , rue du Bourg-Tibourg,
Completely the other side of Paris from
Studio Sicile , rue du Roi de Sicile.
